Popular Trout Fishing for Kids Program Offered March 29 at Wood Dale Grove
Event gives kids a chance to catch trout ahead of the busy spring opener
Kids 15 and under can cast their lines for rainbow trout at freshly stocked Grove Lake at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s “Trout Fishing for Kids” on Saturday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to noon at Wood Dale Grove Forest Preserve in Wood Dale.
Kids get a great opportunity to fish the 9-acre lake after it’s been stocked but before the state’s official spring trout season opener on Saturday, April 5, giving them a better chance to catch fish. Family members are welcome to join the kids but may not fish themselves. The event is free and registration is not required.
“What makes this event special is it gives young anglers a chance to experience the excitement of fishing in a fun and supportive setting,” said Dan Grigas, fisheries ecologist for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. “Families can enjoy a morning outdoors, make lasting memories, and take in the beauty of Grove Lake.”
Some equipment will be available for loan but participants are encouraged to bring their own gear. Bait will be provided.
