Our Volunteer Program
Our Forest Preserve District’s volunteer program is designed to engage volunteers who are willing to donate their time, talents, and resources to support staff and programs in carrying out the mission, purpose, and guiding principles. The volunteer program offers opportunities to assist and support staff across many diverse programs.

Volunteer With Volunteer Ranger Program
Volunteer Ranger Program volunteers assist rangers with recreational programs and events and support volunteer workdays at the DuPage forest preserves. They also help with activities such as archery, fishing, and kayaking.
Volunteer Position
Commitment: Flexible (20 hours and one event/year)
Location: Districtwide
Minimum Age: 18
Application Deadline: Feb. 1
Distinguishing Features of the Position:
Assist staff by providing visitor information and helping with recreational programs at preserves and educational sites throughout the District. Work may include staffing the Greene Valley scenic overlook, picking up litter, and assisting with cleanup projects on preserve property. Interact with the public and respond to questions and requests for information. Duties may vary at the discretion of District staff. Direction and training is received by staff.
