Position Statement on North American Beavers
Beavers’ efforts to provide food and shelter for themselves creates irreplaceable habitat for diverse species. As a result, the District typically does not disrupt beaver activity within the forest preserves. When conflicts between beavers and people merit its involvement, the District refers to its beaver management plan. The District’s ongoing commitment to exchange research and information with other natural resource management experts will not only benefit its management of this invaluable species but also improve the way people and beavers coexist throughout DuPage County.
