Wild Things: GPS-Enabled Treasure Hunters Welcome in Preserves

Long before the Pokémon GO craze, visitors have gone on geocaching adventures in the preserves in search of hidden treasures. Participants use a global-positioning-system unit to navigate through a preserve to find a “treasure” box hidden in the woods. In fact, a Wheaton woman created an award-winning geoacache at St. James Farm that highlights some of the best spots at the Warrenville forest preserve. More information about geocaching in the DuPage forest preserves is available here.

District ranger Adam Carlson explains what geocaching is and how to do it on Wild Things on WDCB Radio (90.9 FM).
